Internet Anonymity

What is it about supposed anonymity on the internet that leads people to be overly courageous and abundantly foolish? In the months that I have been participating in this experiment called social networking, I have been called more racially derogative names than I have in my entire life. I am leaning toward the idea that people who harbor that mentality are indeed cowards. Cowards? Yes, cowards!  My rationale is that I have yet to be disrespected in a similar manner to my face. but here in the cyber universe such treatment seems to be the norm.  I would add my belief that these individuals are fake and masters at deception.  Why because they would not survive this world with such blatant disrespect to people directly.

Attention to demographics

We have heard it broken down by race, age, gender, states, etc. I am sure the breakdowns reflect what they reflect. What does a lack of such a breakdown reflect? I surmise that it reflects an issue in which we do not wish to highlight or discuss; it reflects deeper issues from which we cower. Has anyone heard how are Arabic-American citizentry are leaning? Has anyone heard them mentioned as part of the national presidential debate? Do they matter? They do matter, as all of our citizentry matters. So where are they in the national discourse? Besides the negative respresentations presented (fanatic, moslem, terrorist), and the two female Obama supporters who were asked to give up there places immediately behind Senator Obama during a rally earlier this year, they have been nowhere. The candidates, their political machinery, and pundits have not spoken to these American out of fear. They fear associations and negative connotation prevalent in our stereotypes and perceptions. In this I think both candidates have not demostrated leadership or the qualities associated with leadership. Our next President will and must represent us all in all our diverse and wonderful hues, faiths, and ancestry. What better place to start doing so than when one has the media's ear 24/7, as in during a campaign to lead the free world. It is at such times that one's true leadership ability can be displayed. It is then that we all can determine the candidate truth worth to us all as opposed to a select demographic.

Seven days. It will be over. We will turn the page on the old and begin anew. No miracles expected, none needed.; rather competency in judgement and actions. Perhaps justice, compassion and a committment to the moral high ground may be forthcoming. Torture? No more. Respectability once more. Blue dispositions, green aspirations, the alternative is ugly...not pretty by a long sight. The alternative will solidify our collective ignorance for the rest of the world, the same world that awoke Tuesday, November 2, 2004, and thought 'They did ot again'. We mustn't do it again. Seven days.
